One person is reported dead while 21 sustained injuries in a Monday morning road accident along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Reports say the crash, which occurred at about 05:35 a.m., involved a luxury bus and a truck.
Eyewitnesses say that neither of the vehicles had a registration number attached to them but that the sad incident has caused heavy traffic gridlock which has however eased off with the help of government agencies.
The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) reports that 40 persons were involved in the crash.
“21 male adults were injured and one person was killed from the crash, that is the luxury bus driver, while others were unhurt,” the FRSC said.
FRSC spokesperson in Ogun, Florence Okpe, confirmed that “the suspected causes of the crash were excessive speed and mechanical deficiency.”
She added that “the speed aspect was from the truck driver, who rammed into the stationed bus and killed the driver of the bus while trying to rectify some issues discovered from the vehicle.”
Okpe stated that the injured victims were taken to Famobis Hospital, Mowe, for medical attention, adding that the corpse was deposited at the same hospital.
