11th April Covid-19 update: Nigeria, Lagos, Worldwide

11th April #COVID19 update sees a total of 318 confirmed cases nationwide since the outbreak of the disease.

Out of that number, 238 are currently active, 13 new cases reported as of 9:30pm while 70 have been discharged in total.

 
Breakdown of new cases by states:
  1. Lagos: 11
  2. Delta: 1
  3. Kano: 1
The treatment centres have so far confirmed the discharge of a total of 70 patients with 10 deaths 

The virus has now touched 19 states of the country and the FCT.

FCT update of totals as at 12:30pm, 11th April:

Out of a total of 56 cases reported from inception at the Federal Capital Territory, 11 have so far been discharged.

The successful handling of the 11 cases gives hope to residents that the disease can indeed be cured.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-Olu

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu-Olu of Lagos State, was particularly happy yesterday as he announced the successful treatment and discharge of 4 more patients. 

He made this known in a statement to residents of the state.

His statement:

“Dear Lagosians,

“Today, 4 more patients, all male, including an 11-year old boy have been discharged from the Lagos State isolation facilities to reunite with his family and the society.

“The patients; 3 from Mainland Hospital, Yaba and 1 from the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) were discharged having recovered fully and tested negative twice consecutively to covid-19.

“This brings to 50, the number of patients successfully managed and discharged from the Lagos isolation facilities.

“I appeal to residents to stay at home, practice the Social Distancing Principle and observe the highest personal and hand hygiene.

“We are on a steady course to victory, Let’s all make little sacrifices for the greater good.

Thank you.”

Also yesterday, Governor Sanwo-Olu celebrated the medical professionals in the frontline of the battle to rid the state of #COVID19.

He called them “HEROES of our time and said that Lagosians cannot thank them enough.

“To the HEROES of our time……………How many thank yous can we say for your selflessness ? How many fist bumps can we possibly give you for your dedication ?

“Although you don’t wear capes, you are the real supermen and superwomen. You are our MVPs.

“It was you we looked to when our world was threatened,When we called, you answered. With so little, you have done so much.

“History will never forget you, Lagosians will always remember you.

“To every health worker who has rendered their unconditional services during this national emergency and in the Easter period, we say Thank You.”

Worldwide #COVID19 total figures:
  1. Total confirmed cases: 1,780,314
  2. Deaths: 108,827
  3. Recovered: 404,032

Out of 532,879 confirmed case in the US, a scary 2,100 deaths, the highest anywhere since the outbreak were reported yesterday alone.

Also worrisome is the fact that the country tops the world chat in nearly all figures . There are 481,849 active cases and 2,670,674 testes done since the breakout of the disease.
