14 of the Abducted Students of Greenfield University Regain Freedom

Breaking News !

Reports just received say that 14 of the abducted students of Greenfield University have regained their Freedom after their parents paid N180 million ransom.

The students were dropped along the Kaduna-Abuja highway according to reports monitored on Channels TV.

The parents disclosed that they paid the ransom before before the students’ captors agreed to released them.

One of the parents told TVC News that they self-funded the N180 million to secure the release of their children without the help of the Kaduna State government.

The Chairman of the Parents Forum, Markus Zarmai and a few other parents are expected to receive the students at a drop-off location.

Kaduna Statement government has not given any statement on the development nether have the security agents.

The students were abducted from their hostels on the 20th of April with the kidnappers demanding N800 million as ransom.

When parents were unable to pay within the timeline given, the corpses of 3 of the students were found 3 days after their abduction in Kwanan Bature Village close to the University campus.

2 more students killed afterwards.

The captors threatened to kill one student daily if the parents were unable to meet their demands but soon reduced the ransom to N200 million in addition to over 10 Honda motorbikes.

One of the students was however released soon after his parents paid up his own ransom.

Both the Kaduna State government and the federal government have discouraged the payment of ransom.

A bill is currently at the National Assembly to criminalise ransom payment.
