16th June Covid19 Report shows an additional 490 confirmed new cases of covid19 across 16 states of the country. The total confirmed cases since disease breakout stands at 17,148.

Lagos State update as at 16th June, 2020:

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has cancelled the planned re-opening of worship centres earlier planned for this weekend.

On the 3rd of June, Sanwo-Olu had cleared the air on the re-opening of worship centres saying that mosques would open only on Fridays and churches on Sundays. The re-opening would have commenced on the 19th and 21st respectively.

He cited spiralling new cases of the disease especially community transmissions.

 

 

Worldwide covid19 update as at 17th June, 9:50m:

There a new strain of the covid19 disease in China. Increasing cases of that strain as well as the previous strain.

The country has therefore restored lockdown in areas most affected. Beijing in particular recorded 106 new cases in just one day.

Researchers in the UK have discovered an affordable drug that can reduce covid19 deaths by 1/3.

A press release says dexamethazone can save the lives of patients suffering from severe respiratory symptoms of covid19.
