2 Churches are said to have reported the presence of strange faces in their midst during Sunday worship today.
The Lagos state police command says it has begun an investigation into the claim.
SP Benjamin Hundeyin, spokesperson of the Lagos state police command, who disclosed this development, via Twitter wrote;
‘‘Today alone, 2 churches called the Police that they spotted strange looking men in their midst. One church even claimed it was ‘three Fulani men’ they saw. We responded swiftly. The men were not Fulani and had nothing incriminating on them. However, we are still investigating.
“Unfortunately, even before our arrival, panic-filled voice notes started flying around. While we appreciate security consciousness and speaking up promptly, we enjoin Lagosians not to panic, be jumpy or paranoid. All said, if you see something, still say something.”
Reactions:
La Flame “Beautiful..nothing beats a tip line. Makes information reach the right authorities in good time.
“This comes a week after some gunmen stormed the St. Francis Catholic Church, Owo in Ondo state, and killed over 40 persons.“
zayn lapis lazuli “Psychologically it’s not their fault, the event in owo last week, the message that have been flying around since the beginning of the last week about the fulani attack created that fear“
Olukayode Ajenifuja The church is gradually loosing the love focus, we are joining everyone to stigmatize and shifting dangerously close to hating because we have allowed FEAR mongers to sow the seed of fear in us, the Bible says FEAR has torment. Less us repent and continue to preach & show LOVE.
