2-Year Old Raped in Isolation Centre

A 2-year old baby girl is reported to have been raped at a covid19 isolation centre in Pretoria South Africa.

Narrating the incident to South Africa’s News24, the toddler’s aunt who would rather remain anonymous to hide the child’s identity said the incident happened at Dr George Mukhari Academic Hospital.

The lady said the hospital authorities had called the 2-year old’s mother to come pick her up as she appeared to be in great pain other than #COVID19 pains. They told her that the baby girl had been crying endlessly and had great difficulty walking.

According to the mother, after she bathed her baby, she found white secretions from her private part but waived it off as some medication from the covid19 treatment.

By the next morning, the mother saw more of the secretions and noticed the toddler writhing in pains each time she was washed.

On taking her back to the hospital, medical doctors examined her and told the mother that her 2-year old baby had been raped. She had been subjected to forceful penetration that caused lacerations in her private part.

Narrating the child’s ordeal, her aunt said:

“The mother and chid were referred to the George Mukhari Hospital by the KT Motubatse clinic in Soshangwe on June 15.

“The nurses at the clinic said since the child was struggling to breath, she should be taken to George Mukhari Hospital to be tested for coronavirus.

“The hospital called in the evening and told the mother that the child was crying and in pain. They latter called around 11pm and said the chid was now sleeping.

“The hospital staff called again in the morning and told my sister to come and pick up her child because she had been discharged. The hospital said the child had tested negative for covid19.

“I saw that there was something wrong with the child. As the mother was changing the nappy, she discovered some white fluid on her private part.”

The hospital has commenced investigations into the horrible incident while the case has also been taken up by the provincial police.  According to police spokesman, Brigadier Mathapelo Peters a rape file has been opened.
