Southwest presidential aspirants on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and key stakeholders met in Abuja on Saturday with their colleagues from other parts of the country.
The meeting which started on Saturday night extended into Sunday morning with the Southwest aspirants and stakeholders convening a caucus meeting immediately after.
The 7 presidential aspirants and stakeholders from the South-West include:
- Vice President Yemi Osinbajo
- APC stalwart, Bola Tinubu
- Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State
- Former Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun
- Deputy Majority Leader of the Senate, Ajayi Boroffice
- Former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dimeji Bankole
- Pastor Tunde Bakare.
- Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos)
- Dapo Abiodun (Ogun)
- Gboyega Oyetola (Osun)
- Rotimi Akeredolu (Ondo)
Details of the meeting have not yet been released at the time of filing this report.
The meeting comes on the heels of a general meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari and APC northern governors and stakeholders when the latter backed the transfer of power to the South.
Thereafter President Muhammadu Buhari supported the rotation of power to the South in the 2023 general elections.
The President stated this while speaking at a dinner with All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential aspirants at the Aso Rock Villa.
