Bags of rice branded with pictures of the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu have emerged on the streets of Kano.
This comes as 2023 presidential elections gradually draw near, and politicians begin positioning themselves and their favourites for the highest office in Nigeria.
It is however, not certain if the Bola Tinubu has a hand in the production and distribution of the branded rice. This is in view of the wrong spelling of his social title on the bags. They were all branded as “JAGABA – Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.”
Local residents were seen in videos and pictures carting away the rice in obvious excitement.
The development follows his recent tour of some Northern states and assumptions that he has plans to contest the presidential election in 2023.
It is also assumed that his latest generous gesture is to adequately position him and gain the needed support from the Northern geopolitical zone of the country.
The APC national leader also celebrated his birthday in Kano last month. Apart from Kano, Tinubu visited Kaduna and Katsina states which also hold enormous voting populations and could very readily swing any politician’s votes.
During his visit to Katsina, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu also donated N50 million to victims of a recent fire outbreak at the Katsina central market.

Reactions:
Reno Omokri@renoomokri·When Nigeria was in lockdown, Bola Tinubu did not share Tinubu branded rice to Kano people. But now that he has unveiled his Presidential ambition, he is sharing rice to them. This is why I am at Abuja House to #HarassBuhariOutofLondon. Nigerians need good leadership, not rice.
Maybeks@MayUbeku· Tinubu abandoned Lagosians and choose to bless Kano people with the same rice Bashir claim is abundant in Kano. Southern politicians that wants to be president are rushing Kano. Blessed are Kano people with 2M votes available for rigging. No be una fault. Na my people cause am.
