Coronavirus Pandemic

As at 21st April 2020, by 11:25 pm, Nigeria recorded 117 new cases of covid-19. This is brings the total of confirmed cases since the breakout of the deadly disease to 782.

Breakdown of new cases by states:

  4. Borni: 6
  5. Katsina: 4
  6. Ogun: 3
  7. Rivers: 1
  8. Bauchi: 1

  4. Total confirmed infections: 782

Lagos State update:

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has approved N20,000 as additional hazard allowance for the state health workers. They will now earn N25,000.

The information was given by the head of service, Hakeem Muri Okunola.

According to him, it was an incentive to boost the moral of the workers and a show of appreciation for their dedication.

His statement:

In appreciation of the dedication of all health officers in Lagos State to fight against the coronavirus pandemic, as well as their daily hazardous exposure to the highly contagious disease, it is hereby notified for the general information that Mr Governor has approved the increment of Hazard Allowance for all health officers in Lagos State from N5,000 to N25,000 for the month of April.

“The gesture is an incentive to all health officers in the sate, as frontline responders in the fight against the pandemic. It is believed that the officers would reciprocate same with more doggedness and enthusiasm towards duty in all health facilities state-wide.

Furthermore, I wish to reiterate that our collective efforts will yield the desired result, as this pandemic will pass. Accounting officers are enjoined to note the contents of this circular and give it the service-wide publicity it deserves.”

  1. Total infects: 2,557,857
  2. Deaths: 177,674
  3. 695,321
  4. Active cases: 1,684,862
    • Mild condition: 1,627,609 (97%)
    • Serious/critical: 57,253 (3%)
  5. Cases with outcome: 872,995
    • Recovered/discharged: 695,321 (80%)
    • Deaths: 177,674 (20%)
