World update as at 27th June:
Major European cities of Germany, Portugal and Italy are trying out new ways of enforcing the lockdown.
According to Bloomberg, they have enforced selective or “smart” lockdowns of small regions instead of a total closure of their countries.
The measure means that the public will take responsibility for the spread of the disease until a vaccine is found. It will also help steer the counties towards a more normal life.
Health officials are enjoined to enforce compliance and contain small outbreaks when they occur.
Germany recently saw outbreaks from abattoirs, Italy managed little fare-ups in the remote region of Molise and 1 in Rome while Portugal forced the shutting down of some shops in Lisbon after new cases emerged.
