28-Year-Old Man Drowns in Elegushi Beach, Victoria Island

A 28-year-old man is reported to have drowned at the popular Elegushi Beach, Lekki, Victoria Island, Lagos.

The man identified as Sodiq Aremu, jumped into the surging waters by himself. His body was later found and taken to the mortuary.

Vanguard reports that Sodiq Aremu, a native of the Ona Ora suburb of Oyo, was last seen on July 7th, when he suddenly dropped his luggage and jumped into the beach and all attempts to locate and rescue him proved abortive.

However, at around 1:30 pm on Saturday, July 9, his body was found floating on the ocean’s surface.

Police detectives have visited the scene of the Incident and taken photographs.

Confirming the incident, Spokesperson Lagos State Police Command Benjamin Hundeyin said the corpse was seen on 9th July at about 1:30 pm floating.

He added that it has been recovered and taken to the morgue and the investigation is ongoing.
