The 2nd Niger Bridge will be named after President Muhammadu Buhari according to a close aide of the President.
The information is contained in an official tweet made on Thursday by Buhari’s Personal Assistant on New Media, Bashir Ahmad.
He disclosed that the bridge is a major connection point between economically vital regions in Nigeria and added that the President has done more than enough for the South East.
Ahmad noted that the 2nd Niger Bridge has been constructed to ease the burden on the Niger Bridge which links Onitsha and Asaba.
According to Bashir Ahmad@BashirAhmaad· Ladies and gentlemen, the Muhammadu Buhari Bridge (MBB), a 1.6KM Bridge that will be a major connection point between two economically vital regions in Nigeria.
Someone quickly protested the new name insisting that the President did not conceive the idea of the bridge neither did he fund it personally.
Foundational Senior Man Ọmọlúàbí 1 @Greenaetion Replying to @BashirAhmaad said that, “It is not Muhammadu Buhari Bridge and it can never be. It wasn’t buhari who initiated the project neither did he used his salary to construct the Bridge. That’s 2nd Niger Bridge or Southern Link Bridge.“
Ahmad insisted on the name chosen by the presidency saying that: “So, can we call it Goodluck Jonathan Bridge for sketching the bridge? The bridge is to be called “Muhammadu Buhari Bridge”, read the name again and let it sink in your head.“
