No less than 38 Nigerians who were deported from the United Kingdom, have landed Nigeria via the Murtala Muhammed international Airport, Lagos on Thursday.
Nigerian officials say that the deportees among whom are are mainly mothers and grandmothers, arrived in Lagos early Thursday morning with one Home Office charter flight.
Reports say that some members of LGBTQ communities seeking asylum were among the deportees.
This runs contrary to initial plans by UK government to send asylum seekers to Rwanda.
It is however not certain if there are asylum seekers among the deportees.
However, said some of the deportees insist they have lived in the United Kingdom for many years.
On its part, the Nigeria Ministry of Foreign Affairs is quoted as telling the British Broadcasting Corporation, BBC, that the deportation bothers on violation of immigration-related offences.
On arrival, the deportees were said to have been conveyed to yet to be ascertained locations.
