A 39-year-old Nigerian-born Adewale Adeyemo has made the list of President elect, Joe Biden’s list of cabinet ministers as Deputy Treasury Secretary.
A graduate of the University of California, Berkeley and Yale Law School, Adeyemo’s imminent position equals the Minister of State for Finance in Nigeria.
Better known in the US as Wally, Adeyemo was a senior international economic adviser during the Obama administration.
He is currently the President of the Obama Foundation. and served as the Deputy National Security Advisor for International Economics from 2015-2016.
He was also the Deputy Director of the National Economic Council.
Wally’s position will be the highest level that a Nigerian-American has attained in American government’s 244-year history.
Besides currently working as President of the Obama Foundation, he is a business strategy adviser to policy makers, business leaders and non-profit organisations.
During the Obama administration, Adeyemo was responsible for coordinating the policymaking process on international finance , trade and investment, energy and environmental issues.
He was President Obama’s representative to th G7 and G20.

- Chief of Staff at the Consumer Financial Bureau
