4 of the 5 female students kidnapped by bandits from the College of Health Science and Technology, Tsafe, Zamfara State, have regained freedom.
The students were whisked away when heavily armed gunmen invaded their off-campus hostel on Wednesday night.
Deputy Provost of the college, Jamilu Lawal said that the female kidnapped students were released unhurt on Thursday night.
Lawal disclosed that no ransom was paid to secure the release of the students, adding that they were immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination.
Confirming the development, the state Police Spokesman, Mohammed Shehu said that four female students regained their freedom.
Shehu revealed that the female students were medically checked, debriefed by the police and have been reunited with their families.
He, however, disclosed that one of the victims had earlier escaped from the terrorists while they were been kidnapped from their hostel.
Shehu, however, failed to confirm whether ransom was paid to secure the release of the students.
“It is true, the four abducted students have regained their freedom, medically checked, debriefed by the police and reunited with their families.
“We are not aware of any ransom paid,” Shehu told TheCable on Friday.
