The Minister of State for Labour, Festus Keyamo (SAN) announced today that President Muhammadu has approved the creation of 774000 jobs in the country.
The Minster of State had met with the resistance of the National Assembly members in June over the mode of execution of the job creation.
A happy Keyamo announced to newsmen today that he finally has the president’s approval to proceed with the j0b creation.
According to him, I have the instructions of my boss, Mr President, to proceed with the supervision of the preparation for the execution of the program in accordance with the law.”
He had earlier in June had a shouting march with the lawmakers whom he accused of harassing him with the aim of hijacking the creation of the 774000 job program. He however, insisted he will not succumb to any such blackmail.
At a recent joint committee meeting on Labour, the Labour Minister said that he “only insisted on the provision of the constitution; I insist that they have no power under section 88 of the 1999 constitution. Their powers under section 88 of the 1999 constitution is only limited to investigation, but not to give any directive to execute.”
In a meeting at the National Assembly on the 30th of June, Festus Keyamo, lamented that the lawmakers wanted to take over a means of livelihood created for the ordinary Nigerian youth.
