7th May covid19 report shows 381 confirmed new cases of the dreaded pulmonary infectious disease. This brings the total number of cases since the breakout to 3,526.

The NCDC reports that the Africa Centre for Disease Control  (@AfricaCDC) yesterday provided additional lab equipment and testing reagents to Nigeria.

This is in furtherance of the Partnership To Accelerate #COVID19 Testing (PACT).  The NCDC reports that the initiative aims to ensure the production and acceleration of testing kits in the African region.
 
In another development, traditional rulers have been engaged to sensitise local communities on safe practices during the pandemic.

The NCDC therefore reports that in #Kano, it is leveraging on the rulers’ leadership and influence to inform citizens about the importance of social distancing, use of face makes and safe hand washing practices. 
Lagos State covid19 update as at 7th May, 2020:

48 patients were successfully managed and discharged from the Yaba, Lekki, Onikan and the Lagos University Teaching Hospital (LUTH) isolation facilities.

All patients tested negative after 2 consecutive covid19 tests. 7th May update brings the total number of successfully managed cases in the state to 406.

  2. Deaths: 270,333
  3. Recovered: 1,340,553
  4. Active: 2,301,130
  5. Closed cases (cases which had an outcome): 1,610,886
    • Recovered and discharged: 1,340553 (83%)
