The management of BBNaija Season 5 Lockdown reality TV Show say that the show recorded over 900million votes while the production cost over N3.5 billion.
Managing Director of Multichoice Nigeria, John Ugbe revealed that the voting were ran across social media, and other voting platforms.
Ugbe said it is the highest votes in the history of the show.
MD of Multichoice made the revelation at the media briefing and presentation of prizes to winners. The ceremony took place in Lagos on Wednesday.
The massive votes may not be unconnected with the #COVID19Nigeria nationwide lockdown when people were largely holed up at home. This is as a result of government restriction of movements.
Olamilekan Agbeleshe, better known by his stage name as Laycon carted away a total of N85 million in cash and gifts as the overall winner of the show.
Laycon entered the House with barely 3,000 followers and now leaves with over 1.7 million.
Among the items Laycon was presented with are a cheque of N30 million, keys to a 2-bedroom apartment, courtesy of Revolution Plus and a top of the range SUV, AN IVM G40 donated by Innoson Motors, Nigerian automaker.
Laycon told Ebuka, the show’s anchor that he only joined the show to promote his music and did not even expect to make the top 5.
He feels he got a double blessing by coming tops and gaining a massive fan base.
Laycon’s fans went to the venue of the presentation with different cultural groups and turned the event into a carnival of sorts.
