94-Year-Old Man Registers to Sit for 2025 UTME

A 94-year-old man, Adedapo Idowu, has registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME).

The inspiring news marks a significant step toward the elder statesman’s lifelong dream of pursuing tertiary education.

Idowu’s story was featured in the latest bulletin of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB), where he expressed his excitement about the opportunity to study at his advanced age.

I can now attain my dream at an advanced age,” he said.

He praised the UTME registration process as smooth and efficient, particularly commending JAMB for integrating the National Identity Number (NIN), which he believes has eliminated discrimination against the elderly, underprivileged, and people with disabilities.

The registration staff gave me a sense of belonging through the warm reception at the registration venue,” he added.

Idowu encouraged JAMB to maintain its seamless registration system and expressed confidence in his ability to succeed in the examination. He also advised fellow candidates to embrace professionalism and contentment in their academic journey.

Since the commencement of the 2025 UTME registration on January 31, over 700,000 candidates have registered, including 11,000 underage applicants.
