‘Collapsed Building Previously, Evacuated, Marked for Demolition’ – Lagos State

The Lagos state Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso has revealed that  the building which collapsed in the Orile area of the state in the morning of today October 14, was evacuated two weeks ago and was marked for demolition.

In a statement released after the incident, Omotoso said no casualty was recorded in the incident.

His statement: ‘’A distressed storey building already marked for demolition has collapsed in Orile-Iganmu.

No casualty was recorded as the building had been evacuated two weeks before the incident. In fact, it had been marked for demolition.

The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency(LASEMA), Fire Service , Building Control Agency (LASBCA) and the Police are at the scene to ensure there are no secondary incidents.”
