According to her, the patient, an unnamed female has been returned to the Isolation Centre. Egbamode added that the state government has also begun tracing everyone that the patient came in contact with.

Egbamode added that security at the isolation centre has been beefed up to avert a repeat of the incident.

She assured Osun State residents that government will do everything possible to avoid possible spread of the disease.

While dealing with the covid-19 patient who absconded, the Osun State Governor Rotimi Akeredolu has assured the state’s residents that the index case has no chance of spreading the disease.

According to him, the military officer who returned from India recently is being attended to in quarantine while his contact tracing is confined to the military barracks.

On reasons why his the military officer’s contact tracing is limited to the barracks, the governor said:

“The army officer had voluntarily isolated himself as soon as he arrived the country from India over a week ago.

“When you trace the history of the officer, you know that it leads us to little or no potential expansion. He came and put himself in isolation.

“The Brigade Commander spoke with me and confirmed this to me. All we have to do to prevent the spread of the virus  has been done with this man in self isolation.
