Electric Power Supply has officially dropped very drastically in Nigeria.
Nigerian homes noticed a gradual dimming of the light in the wee hours of this morning, 29th April before it went off completely.
The transmission company of Nigeria also confirmed that the national grid suffered a collapse at about the same time.
Officials say the power generation dropped to 2,900 megawatts as a result but most parts of the country still do not have electricity.
The Public Affairs Manager of TCN Ndidi Mbah says the cause of the drop in the power supply is still unknown.
In a statement released today, she said, that the “TCN would commence investigations into the cause of the supply loss as soon as full recovery is achieved.”
She added that “we are committed to ensuring grid stability and consistent bulk power supply, especially at this time of the pandemic.”
The Speaker of he House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila has engaged various stakeholders during the lockdown to discuss chances of improved power supply.
Discussions have largely remained at the drawing table.
