It has been observed that President Muhammadu Buhari never wears face masks. Indeed the president has not been sen wearing one since the outback of the coronavirus disease.
Lauretta Onochie, Aide to the President on Social Media has taken to defending the president’s unwillingness to wear the protective gear.
According to her, expert medical protocol says that anyone in his safe environment does not need to wear a mask. For her, that is the reason Buhari never wears one.
Onochie says further that it is only those visiting who must wear face masks to avoid leaving droplets for their hosts’ safe environment.
In a tweet, the media aid insists that Buhari is not breaking any rule by not wearing face masks.
In her words, “PRES MBuhari IS NOT BREAKING RULES ! Expert Medical Protocol is that if you are in your safe environment, you don’t need to wear a mask. Those visiting you MUST wear masks to ensure they leave no droplets in your environment. Wearing of masks is mostly to protect people around us.”
Some of Onochie’s fans have also come up to defend the president and her position on the issue. They insist that except for the Chinese President, no world leader ever wears a mask in their public or private functions.
