“Nigerians Now Enjoy 24-hour Electricity Supply daily,” according to the Minister of Power. Minister of Power, Sale Mamman. He said this while giving an update on the power situation in Nigeria.

He reminded Nigerians that Power sector is a challenging sector of Nigeria’s economy. Nonetheless, he claims since assuming office, most of the power infrastructure in Nigeria have been completed and working at full capacity. Neally all abandoned power projects have been completed since the inception of the Buhari administration.

The president initiated the Presidential Power Initiative (PPI) whose main duty is to ensure that all infrastructure are improved upon and working optimally.

Sale Mamman made the assertions during an interview on the n @NTANewsNow ‘Good Morning Nigeria’ show

Among the completed power projects the many substations that have been completed across the country. Among the many major infrastructure are:

  1. The 330kva which have been improved across the country
  2. 132 substations have been revamped and increased across the country
  3. 330 eleven KV have been increased to 415 enhance power supply to customers
  4. The legacy projects like Kashimbilla 40 megawatts and Dadiku have been completed
  5. Zungeru in Niger State is currently at 70% completion
  6. Mambila hydro power, one of the largest and which has been lingering for over 40 years has commenced as feasibility studies, land and are survey are completed. The ministry is only waiting for the contractors to mobilise to the site

According to the minister, ” before the present government took over the reins of power, Nigerians had less than 10-hour power supply in a day. but today I can tell you we give light from 18 – 24-hour electricity in a day. That is also a significant improvement. 

Apart from the minister’s claims that Nigerians now enjoy 24-hour electricity supply, he said that the government “is also trying to make power supply affordable.”

According to him Power supply would fully peak after Siemens AG of Germany completes its ongoing project in the country.
