Nigeria’s covid19 figures hit 26,484 on 1st July, 2020 with an additional 790 confirmed new cases across 21 states of the country.

For the very first time, Lagos has been pushed to 2nd place by Delta. Delta State’s confirmed new cases now stand at an unprecedented 166 while Lagos recorded 120.

New confirmed deaths recorded on 1st July are 13 from 7 states bringing the total deaths since the breakout of the pandemic to 603.

Interstate land and air travels have been authorised in Nigeria by the Federal Government.

While land transport has commenced, flights are to resume from 8th July in a phased manner starting with the 2 major airports of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja and Murtala Muhammed Airport, Ikeja, Lagos.

Interstate public transport owners have been instructed to ensure all passengers wear face masks throughout their journeys. The vehicles are also to ensure they load only 60% of normal passenger capacity.

Road Transport Workers have requested government palliatives to augment transport costs or they will have no choice but increase transport fares.

 

World report – India:

A groom has died in India 2 days after testing positive to covid19.

The wedding ceremony, tagged  “#COVID19 super-spreader” took place in Patna, Bihar and saw the groom displaying symptoms of covid19 at the wedding. He was also reported to to have run high temperatures and died 2 days later.

80 of his guests thereafter tested positive to the killer disease.
