Nigeria’s covid19 figures totalled up to 30,748 on 9th July, 2020. Lagos still has the highest confirmed cases with 157 new infections across 24 states.

12,546 patients have been successfully managed and discharged while 17,513 are currently active.

A total of 20 deaths were recorded on the 9th of July across 10 states. They include –

India is the country worse hit by the covid19 pandemic with an average of 22,000 new case daily in the past 1 week.

According to the local daily Times of India, the new growth rate represents a 2% daily increase or 7,000 new infections per day.

On 8th July alone, the country with a population of over 1.3 billion, posted 482 deaths and 22,752 new infections.

According to the country’s Health Ministry, total deaths as a result of covid19 in the country as at 9th July morning, is 20,642.

The state of West Bengal has announced a total lockdown with effect from 9th July following a spike in infections.

An official government order read:

“All private and government offices in containment zones and buffer zones will remain shut. Only Essential services will be available in these zones and transport services will remain suspended till further notice.”

Other countries badly hit by the disease are the US, Brazil, and Russia.
