15th July covid19 Report: Nationwide, Worldwide

Covid19 cases in Nigeria have climbed to 34,259 with additional 643 confirmed new cases across19 states of the federation on the 15th of July.

Health workers successfully managed and discharged 13,999. Unfortunately, 760 deaths have been recorded while 19,500 are currently actively ill.

Breakdown of confirmed new cases across states as at 15th July:

6 deaths were recorded on the 15th July with Ebonyi posting the highest number of 2.

National covid19 report as at 15t July:
WAEC:

Schools in the South Western States of Nigeria will resume in August 3. This is to enable them take the 2020 WAEC exams with other WAEC compliant West African States.

However, another report says Nigeria’s Ministry of Education is consulting with the other counties to postpone the exams.

Lagos doctors strike:

Lagos State doctors have suspended the 3-day warning strike. They are to resume work today, Thursday, 16th July. 

The doctors had embarked on the strike to press home their grievance over the wage disparity between the federal government and state doctors. They also wanted the government to address the issues of non-payment of hazard allowance, disengagement of doctors at the isolation centres and 2 months salary arrears. 

Dr Oluwajimi Sodipo, Chairman of the state medical guild said they called off the strike to further discussions with the state government.

Reports from Moscow says 2 of the country’s medical research centres have completed the first phase of covid19 candidate vaccine trials on Wednesday. 

2 groups of 18 volunteers were reported discharged form hospitals. The volunteers had taken part in 28-day trials in the 1st Moscow State Medical University and the Main Military Clinical Burnkendo Hospital.
