Jubilation in PDP Camp, Obaseki Clinches Edo Governorship Election

There is jubilation in the PDP camp as incumbent Governor of Edo State, Godwin Nosgheghase Obaseki clinches the Edo State Governorship Election under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

It was a fierce battle between the 2 major parties of the All Progressives Congress (APC) represented by Pastor Osagie Eze-Iyamu and the incumbent who represented the PDP.

The final result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) shows that Eze-Iyamu polled 223,619 votes while Obaseki polled 307,955, a difference of 84,336.

Obaseki won in 13 Local Government Areas while Eze-Iyamu managed to secure only 5 LGAs.

In all, 14 candidates contested the election.

President Muhammadu Buhari has congratulated Governor Godwin Obaseki as the winner of the Edo State 2020 Governorship Election.

Buhari’s message was sent in a tweet by his Special Assistant on New Media, Bashi Ahmed.

There is currently wild jubilations in the camp of the PDP as some residents and Nigerians in general say that the presence of APC stalwarts like the National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and former Edo State governor, cost the APC a lot of votes.

This is more so as many believe that godfatherism will not be be allowed to thrive in the state.
