Lagos State Announces School Resumption

The Lagos State Government has announced the resumption of schools for all classes in public and private schools.

The resumption date is set for Monday, 2nd of November, 2020.

Bording students are expected back in the hostels on Sunday the 1st of November.

The statement was made public today, Thursday by the Head of Public Affairs, Ministry of Education, Kayode Abayomi.

Mrs Folasade Adefisayo, Commissioner for Education regretted that 2020 has been an unprecedented year in the light of all the events that led to the disruption of the country’s academic calendar.

In particular, she spoke about the frequent closure of schools with attendant learning disruptions faced by all children.

According to her, “we pray and hope that there will be no more disruptions in the academic calendar.

“However, the State Government will always regard the safety of pupils/students, parents and all staff as a matter of priority.

“We recommend that when schools resume on Monday, teaching and learning should continue unhindered till the end of the term.”

Mrs Adefisayo enjoined all pupils and students to focus on their studies in order to quickly recover all they have lost and excel.
