16-year-old Barakat has withdrawn the sexual harassment case she brought against the Ogun State Commissioner of Environment, Abiodun Abudu-Balogun.

According to Barakat Molejuekun, “I was the young lady in the viral video about sexual harassment by the Commissioner for Environment in Ogun State.

“I’m using this opportunity to thank all well-meaning Nigerians that threw their support and love towards this matter.

“I want you to know that there were few misconceptions and and misunderstanding between I and the Commissioner and I now want to use this opportunity to appeal to well-meaning Nigerians to please allow this matter to rest.”

Barakat’s father, on his part said that he discovered that there was a misconception between his daughter and the “Honourable Commissioner.”

He said he now “deems it fit to come before Nigerians and the international community to say that this matter should be allowed to be laid to rest.”

Mr Barakat added that he is no longer interested in the matter and so he is withdrawing his case.

Mr Abiodun Abudu-Balogun was suspended from office by the governor of Ogun State, Dayo Abiodun.

The statement from the Governor’s office said it is a way of showing the administration’s zero tolerance for corruption.

The Commissioner had also posted a public statement denying the allegation. According to him, it is a frame up by his political opponents.

However, the Ogun State Police Command insists on going on with investigations into the matter.

Women focussed organisations have also risen against the action of the Commissioner:
