Former Deputy Senate President Chased out of a Public Event

News - Women's Perspective

Former Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu was recently chased out away from a public event in Enugu State.

Some suspected thugs invaded a football match where he was in attendance in Ulunya, Ovoko, Igbo-Eze South Local Government Area of the State.

As they made to accost him, the lawmaker was immediately whisked away by security operatives.

Vanguard reports that the thugs protested his sponsorship of the football tournament via the Ike Ota Foundation also owned by him.

The hoodlums pulled down the gaol posts and chased Ekweramadu and his entourage away from the match venue.

Some youths of the area who spoke on conditions of anonymity alleged that the thugs were hired by Pat Asadu, lawmaker representing Nsukka/Igbo-Eze South Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

However others of his Senatorial zone are also opposed to his governorship aspiration and insist they would not support him.

They insist that since he has done little to improve their lot as the number 2 man in the upper legislative chamber, they would not welcome him as their governor.

Some of the reactions:

“In as much as I don’t like the nature of the roads in Enugu State and South East in general, I don’t support those blaming only @iamekweremadu for the misfortune in the South East. #EkweremaduIsNotAGovernor, hold your Governors responsible”
