Nigerian youths tis morning defied government and security agents’ orders and converged on the #lekkitollgate as early as 6:30am.
They insist that they would carry out the peaceful protests despite the presences of heavily armed security agents.
They say they would carry out their protests in the most peaceful manner at the #Lekkitollgate and indeed they were on ground.
They say that the presence of security agents, in their opinion was to ensure that there is peace.
One of them said that “We are not going to be violent. No government has the right to stop a peaceful protest. We not discouraged by the armed security men.
“We will be out to pass a message that bad governance in Nigeria must stop.
About 45 minutes into the protest, at least 10 protesters were severely beaten by uniformed men and detained in a ‘Black Maria’ truck.
The arrested youths include 4 ladies and 6 men, eyewitnesses said.
