The Group Managing Director of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, today, Monday, confirmed that there will be no increase in the pump price of Petrol in May.

NNPC has held down the pump price of petrol at N148 per litre in spite of the increase in the ex-depot price of the commodity. However, the Corporation has incurred a subsidy increase of more than N120 billion monthly.

Kyari also confirmed that Petroleum Tanker Drivers have suspended their proposed strike following the intervention of the NNPC.

There was a disagreement between the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) and the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO).

The NNPC stated its position in a tweet today:

Following GMD #NNPC Mallam @MKKyari‘s intervention in the National Association of Road Transport Owners (NARTO)/Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD) impasse, PTD has just announced the suspension of its planned strike until closure of discussion between both parties.

Also, the GMD announced that there would be no increase in the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the month of May 2021.
