An Asian man, Nguyen Quoc Lam has been arrested by the police in Vietnam for allegedly raping his maid’s 2-year-old daughter.
The 38-year-old was reportedly caught in the act by the victim’s mother who often worked for his family in the central province’s Lien Huong Town.
The house maid and her daughter are said to be homeless so the little girl often stayed at the Lam’s apartment while she took shelter on the streets.
The suspect who is currently being investigated for charges of “rape of a person aged under 16,” was nabbed on the 18th of April after the housekeeper entered the house to commence her daily chores heard her daughter screaming.
Rushing to her daughter’s aid, she said she saw Lam raping the girl and so decided to inform the police even if Lam ran away.
The Deputy Director of the Binh Thuan police department in Pham That, Bihn Thuan said on Tuesday that officials of the police force eventually tracked down and arrested the culprit at a relative’s house in another district on the 18th of April.
The police chief added that such act of rape is punishable by death in Vietnam.
