A special task force, Operation Safe Haven (OPSH) has rescued a kidnapped student of Kings College in Gana Ropp, Barkin Ladi Local Government Area of Plateau State.

The spokesperson of the task force, Major Ibrahim Shittu said in a statement on Sunday, that the victim, Kelvin Eze was kidnapped on the 29th of April and rescued by soldiers on May 1 at about 8:35pm.

Major Shittu recounted how gunmen invaded the college in the early hours of Thursday, April 29 and abducted one of the students.

He however, refrained from giving details of how and where the victim was rescued but said he was rescued unhurt and with no ransom paid.

He added that their success was the result of intense and sustained search and rescue operations carried out by the army.

According to him, “The rescued student who is hale and hearty has since been united with other students in the college.”

“The timely intervention of security personnel forced the bandits to abandon the other abductees as well.”

Shittu assured the public that OPSH will continue to ensure the safety of lives and property and ensure that lasting peace is entrenched across its joint areas of operation.

OPSH operates in Plateau, parts of Kaduna and Bauchi states.
