There is panic and confusion at Umuahia, the capital of Abia State as soldiers are alleged to have stormed the streets since morning, combing every corner.
Gunshots have continued all day.
Their mission is not yet known as the governor is also expected to address residents.
Vdeo footage shows dead bodies on the streets while traumatised residents run for safety with their hands in the air in surrender, a sign that they were not armed.
