A video has emerged showing Usifo Ataga’s mistress in tears apologising for murdering him.
Chidinma told Punch reporters that she has never killed anyone before and still cannot tell what came over her when she committed the crime.
According to her, she just wanted to get money off of him and that was why she started dating him.
She added that she has never met Ataga’s wife and has had a very difficult childhood as her parents parted ways when she was barely two years old.
She was left in her uncle’s care at Mushin, a surbub of Lagos. Chidinma said she and her dad always had a hard time raising money for her school fees. She wanted to graduate and become an actress and musician but got fed up with school.
The 21-year old undergraduate of UNILAG said she planned to complete her education through online courses as she does odd jobs including ushering.
Ataga’s mistress insisted she was not working for or with anybody to kill him saying she acted alone. According to her, nobody came to evacuate her after the crime, “I left on my own.”
Pleading for forgiveness:
“I didn’t plan on killing him or anybody. I want to say that I’m sorry. I know everyone is disappointed at me. I don’t know what came over me that made me do what I did.
“I hope God forgives me and that everyone forgives me.
“Mr Ataga family, I am deeply sorry for what I did. If I had my life back, I wouldn’t do anything of such.
“I am deeply sorry. I don’t want to die. I am deeply sorry. Please I hope you forgive me. I don’t want to die.”
