The British High Commission has reacted to the recent arrest of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.

A spokes person of the the High Commission in Nigeria disclosed to TheCable that he was not arrested in the UK where he had been based.

Nigeria’s Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami told newsmen during a briefing on the development on Tuesday that the IPOB leader was arrested on Sunday as a result of “the collaborative efforts of the Nigerian intelligence and Interpol.”

Malami has however, not disclosed where Kanu was arrested while the British High Commission insisted he was not picked up in their country.

He said this in a text message that, “We can confirm that Nnamdi Kanu was not arrested in the UK for extradition purposes.’

On his part, former aide to ex-president Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri said that Kanu was arrested in Kenya.
