One of the Chibok school girls abducted in 2014, 7 years ago has graduated with a BSc in Accounting from the American University of Nigeria (AUN).

Mary Katambi was among the 276 students kidnapped by Boko Haram from their dormitory but was lucky to have escaped.

The terrorists stormed the Government Girls Secondary School (GGSS) Chibok in Borno State dressed in army uniforms and pretended to have come to evacuate the girls to safety.

The students promptly obliged and got loaded in several vehicles only to discover soon afterwards that they were indeed terrorists.

Mary, alongside a few other girls took the dare-devil decision to escape and return to Chibok. A handful of the girls were taken over by the US government and have also graduated with various university degrees.

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar who is also the founder of the American University of Nigeria, Yola was at the University’s recent convocation.

He shared photos of Mary Katambi, the President of the Africa Development Bank, Akinwunmi Adesina and himself at the graduation ceremony.
