There has been riot, looting, chaos in Johannesburg as Jacob Zuma’s alleged supporters hit the streets in support of their former president.
They demand his immediate release from police custody after he personally handed himself over to the operatives on Wednesday, July 7.
Zuma is to commence a 15-month prison sentence for contempt of court but his supporters have besieged the streets since his incarceration.
The riots worsened in his home province of KwaZulu-Natal and Guteng after he challenged the sentence in the county’s apex court
79-year-old Jacob Zuma was sentenced in June for defying a 2018 constitutional court order to give evidence regarding massive corruption during his 9-year tenure as president.
One of the victims of the ongoing chaos, a Nigerian lady laments how her shop was completely emptied by looters leaving her with only a bad sofa.
She disclosed that she had to visit her shop with her toddlers as early as 4:00am since she had no nanny.
