Maj General Hassan Ahmed, former Provost Marshal of the Nigerian Army has been assassinated in Abuja.
Reports say he was killed on Thursday night in the Abaji area of the Federal Capital Territory. His sister, Safina Ahmed, who was mistaken for his wife was abducted.
Daily Post reports that they were travelling from Okene when they were attacked.
A source told the newspaper that, “They opened fire on his vehicle, he died. The driver pretended to be dead from the wound he sustained, so they took the sister away,”
Reports also say they were particularly exposed to danger as they were moving without escort. Maj General Hassan was driven by his driver, Sergent Bukar in a Toyota Hilux with a private number.
His remains has been deposited at the Nigerian Army Officers Wives Association (NAOWA) Hospital in Abuja.
The assassinated Army General was recently appointed by Chief of Army Staff, Faruk Yahaya as a Director, Army Headquarters, Abuja.
