A 200 level student of Industrial Physics at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University (UNIZIK), Awka, Anambra State, has committed suicide over what his colleagues adduce to poor exam results.
Reports say David Ogbonna carried out the act in the school hostel.
An eyewitness told newsmen that the room where the incident occurred has been locked and cordoned off by the school authorities, refusing anyone to access it.
The source adds that the roommate of the deceased student are being interrogated.
Another eyewitness who spoke on conditions of anonymity told The Nation that, “The deceased locked himselfinside the room and when the door was broken, he was seen dangling with a rope around his neck.”
One of the students described lat Ogbonna as a “quiet and calm student, who never showed any sign of depression before the incident.”
Yet another student said that the deceased’s family has issued an official has issued a statement in which he requested them to allowed the family mourn their son in peace.
