The Kano Hisbah has explained reasons nothing has been done about the revealing bridal shower dress won by the wife of the President’s son, Zahra Buhari.

The Sharia police also explained the reason it differentiates between the rich and the poor in its implementation of disciplinary measures.

The son of the President, Yusuf Buhari recently got married to the daughter of the Emir of Bichi, Zahra Ado Bayero in a lavish wedding held at the banquet hall of the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

A few days to the wedding, Zahra held a bridal shower with her friends when she wore a dress that revealed her shoulders, entire hands and part of her chest.

The dress which was considered lovely by many, drew criticisms from many others as they considered it unethical by Islamic standards.

This is more so as operatives of Hisbah recently launched a clamp down on young men with stylish haircuts, a notable actress with an equally revealing dress, another actress that posted sexually suggestive images etc.

This is in addition to banning the use of mannequins at fashion shops.

Giving reasons for the preferential treatment, a director at the Hisbah board, Aliyu Kibiya told Freedom Radio that it is against the tenets of Islam to public criticise a leader.

“Although we call on everybody in the society to do the right thing, but we make the call on case by case basis.

“It is against the tenets of Islam to mount the podium and call out our leaders. There are ways to caution our leaders without critiquing him in public.”

On his part, the Commander-General of the board, Haroun Ibn-Sina told Freedom FM that they also arrest the children of the rich but cite examples.
