The Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has revealed that the All Progressives Congress (APC) is not looking for an Igbo President come 2023.

He dismissed reports that the ruling APC is planning to zone the ticket to to the South East region of the country.

Speaking in an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today, he dismissed Seun Okinbaloye’s views that Igbos complained about marginalisation especially during the one-day working visit of the President to the state.

Uzodinma said that Buhari only visited the state to commission projects and interact with the poeple of the state and had no discussion whatsoever about Igbos being sidelined in the scheme of things.

According to him, The President’s visit had nothing to do with 2023 or any commitment to the zoning of the presidency.

He added that “The highest leadership in Igboland came out to receive the President. They pledged to work with him and to support his administration and we are serious about it, we meant it.”

We are not looking for an Igbo President, We are looking for a president of Nigeria. As a party, the APC, we believe that what we are practicing here is partisan democracy and every politician must be loyalty his party.

“At the end of the day, it is the decision of the political party you belong to that will matter.

You cannot be a president if you are not sponsored by a political party. When it will come, APC will take into consideration all factors, covert and overt, and then take a decision, and once that decision is taken, all members of the party will be bound by that decision.”
