Investors Stranded As Couple Flees With N22 Billion Investment (photos)

A couple identified as Bamise and Elizabeth Ajetumobi have left investors stranded as they are alleged to have fled with the money trusted in their care by members of the public.

Reports say the investments are estimated to run into N22 billion.

Reports say the couple relocated from Nigeria with the funds entrusted to them by thousands of customers across Nigeria.

Bamise is said to be a former staff of Zenith Bank and operates a micro-lending platform for small and medium scale traders.

He collects money from investors, lends to the traders, then returns 10% of the profit to investors monthly.

The wife, Elizabeth, runs a domestic staffing platform for hiring help.

Investors lament that they have not set their eyes on Bamise and Elizabeth or even heard from them for the past couple of months.

Social media accounts of investors reveal that the couple went into hiding after squandering investors’ money said to be as much as N22 billion

Several victims on social media say they lost between low 5-figure amounts to as high as N500 million.

A WhatsApp group has been created for those affected by the fraudulent scheme with a view to ramping up efforts to recover their investments.

Imagine Global which was registered in 2017. As stated on its website, is has a customer base of 90,000 Nigerians.

It is however, unclear how many of the investors were able to recover their investments before the couple disappeared.

Mr and Mrs Ajetumobi reportedly fled to London where a branch of Imagine Global was incorporated in 2019.
