Nigerian international award-winning singer David Adeleke better known as Davido has reacted to an old photo of his late grand pa, Chief Ayoola Adeleke.

The picture which showed the patriarch in a chat with a former US Farmers Union President was posted by an instagram user, asirimagazine on Friday, 29th of October, 2021.

The grand pa is said to have been a senator and labour activist covering Tony Dechant, US Farmers Union.

Reacting to the post, Davido reposted the photo on his own instagram story with the caption ‘GRAND PA.

According to reports, Davido’s grandfather is a second republic Senator and labour activist from Ede.

He was also the Vice President of the United Labour Congress of Nigeria as well as the Chairman of Nigeria Red Cross, Ede Branch.

The Instagram post read that, “Chief Ayoola Adeleke (@davido grandfather) chats with Tony Dechant, US Farmers Union president. The chief is often referred to as “the George Meany of Nigeria,” December 18, 1967.

Chief Raji Ayoola Adeleke was a second republic senator and labour activist from Ede who represented Osun Senatorial District II, comprising 6 local government areas: Ede, Oshogbo, Irepodun, Odo Otin, Ila Orangun.

He was born into an illustrious family. His mother, Madam Adedoyin of Onilegogoro’s compound was one of the most outstanding Iyalodes (Head of Market Women) Ede ever produced. She was said to be vibrant and charismatic.

Chief Adeleke was born in his hometown of Ede on the 27th of December, 1923. He attended St Peters Primary School Ede (1935-1938), Ibadan Grammar School (1939-1943) and later became a registered nurse with the medical department nursing school in 1947.

He was an early member of the pioneer union of Nigerian nurses in 1948.

In his lifetime, Davido’s grand pa was the vice president and Director of Organisation, United Labour Congress of Nigeria, Federal Labour Advisory. He was also Chairman, Nigerian Red Cross Ede Branch.

In 1976, he was conferred with the title of Balogun of Ede.

A detribalised man, who set the pace for his sons and grandsons to seek spouses from the Eastern part of Nigerian, his second wife, Mrs Nnenna Adeleke was from the old Enugu.

The erudite senator had five children including Senator Isiaka Adetunji Alani Adeleke (was first civilian governor of Osun between 1992 – 1993), Ademola Adeleke (represented Osun west Senatorial district), Dr. Adedeji Adeleke, Pro-Chancellor Adeleke University, Ede.
