Customs Officer and Wife, Assistant Inspector of Police Allegedly Kidnapped

For persons, comprising a Customs Officer and his wife, a female Assistant Inspector of Police and another women are alleged to have been kidnapped in the Suleja Local Government Area of Niger State on Thursday.

The incident occurred in the morning of Thursday.

No group has so far claimed responsibility for the kidnapping, neither has any contact or demand been made by the abductors.

Reports say that the assailants arrived the community in large numbers and went straight to the residence of the Customs officer.

They whisked him and his wife away and also ransacked and took valuables from his house.

ThisDay reports that after the siege on the customs officer’s residence, the assailants went to that of the female Assistant Inspector of Police and also abducted her.

It is not yet certain, how and where the 4th victim was taken as at the time of this report.

When contacted, The State Commissioner of Police, Monday Bala Kuyars, confirmed the incident.

According to him, “I know four people were kidnapped.”

However, he could not confirm the identities of the victims. The police boss said he could not immediately tell if the victims were customs or police officers.

“All I know is that 4 people were kidnapped,” he said.
