The management of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), on Tuesday, stated its position on the love affair between a youth Corper and a female soldier.
NYSC said that corps members need to play by all relevant rules even when it has to do with romantic relationships.
The Director-General, Brig Gen Ibrahim Shuaibu gave the statement during a press conference while reacting to the viral video of the male Corper who proposed to a female soldier at the Kwara State orientation camp.
Shuaibu stated that the corps encourages the corpers to get married but they have never had to deal with a case involving a soldier and a corps member.
He added that in this case the army has its own rules which must also be respected and obeyed.
The Nigerian Army, a few days ago, confirmed the arrest of a female soldier who recently accepted accepted the love proposal from a male member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Kwara State.
The proposal took place in full glare of hundreds of corpers, at the Passing Out Parade of Batch B, Stream 2 of the 2021 Corps Members last week.
The corps member in a viral video went on his knees as he inserted an engagement ring on to the finger of the female soldier who intern accepted his proposal and kissed him romantically.
The scene drew a loud ovation from the exited corpers present.
The scene was promptly posted on the nyscnews portal with the caption: “Excitement As Corper Proposes To Soldier Girlfriend. She said Yes !“
