The prohibited Indigenous People of Biafra IPOB has banned cows reared by Fulani herdsmen herdsmen for any social event.
The ban was made known in a New Year message by the IPOB Head of Directorate, Mazi Chika Edozien through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful.
According to the Biafra group, the ban on Fulani cows would take effect from April, 2022.
The pro-Biafra group stated that only locally bred cows would be allowed in the region for events, urging traditional rulers, the clergy and town unions to ensure the message reaches the grassroots. Part of the statement reads:
“The ban placed on Fulani cows will take effect from April 2022.
“Effective this month, Fulani cows will not be used for any social or ceremonial events and festivals in Biafraland.
“Our native cows will be used instead for these events.
“Traditional custodians of our culture, the clergy, and town unions must ensure that this message gets to the grassroots,” the group said.
IPOB has on several occasions, accused the Fulanis of killing the South-East people.
The group had also formed the Eastern Security Network (ESN) to possibly tackle and end the killings.
However, since the creation of ESN, insecurity has been on the rise with government operatives accusing the group of orchestrating the attacks.
