‘Nnamdi Kanu Denied Being an IPOB Member’ – FG

Delta Communities Threaten to Cripple Oil Production if Nnamdi Kanu is not Released

The Federal Government of Nigeria has accused the embattled leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Nnamdi Kanu of denying his membership of the separatist group.

Counsel to the Federal Government, Shuaibu Labaran made the claim on Wednesday when he said the pro-Biafra leader “vehemently denied” being a member of the group.

Labaran revealed this when he addressed newsmen after the curt proceedings at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

According to him, “One of the charges suggested that the defendant, Nnamdi Kanu is a member of IPOB and he vehemently denied being a member of IPOB.

“That is very curious and we urge Nigerians to see us through how we are going to prove all those changes against the defendant in no time to come.”

Nnamdi Kanu was re-arraigned on Wednesday on a 15-count charge of treasonable felony at a Federal High Court in Abuja.

He however, pleaded not guilty to any of the charges when they were read out to him.

Justice Binta Nyako thereafter, fixed the 16th of February to hear an application by the defendant challenging his trial as well as the charges against him.
